Filmfare nominated John Abraham (Dhoom), Filmfare winner Arjun Rampal (Rock On!!), and Ashmit Patel (Banaras) are reportedly starring in it and BAFTA nominated Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) is rumored to be in its cast.

Directed by Andy Armstrong (Planet of the Apes), written by Kevin D. Ward, cinematography by Joao Fernandes (Conversations with God), and produced by Edge Filmworks, it is slated to be released on February three next. Its tagline is: “Betrayal is a contact sport…” Its other cast includes Nina Dobrev (Merry Madagascar), MTV nominated Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale), and Leslie Mann (Knocked Up). Filming locations of this “R” rated dark comedy are Tampa and Ybor City, both in Florida (USA).

Its story revolves around underworld, politics, crime, and stealing, reports suggest.

Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed has welcomed this teaming-up of Hollywood and Bollywood and hopes that these collaborations would become more commonplace in the future.

Mumbai: Actress Freida Pinto is living the dream of acting with top international talents – a fact that makes her peers go green with envy. According to recent reports, the ‘Slumdog’ star will work opposite Hollywood superstar Mickey Rourke in Greek mythology film `War of the Gods’. The 25-year-old Indian star plays a Greek priestess in the movie, which is being directed by Tarsem Singh and begins production in April.

In a recent interview, the actress who denied playing the Bond girl talked about bagging two prestigious Hollywood projects.

The story of ‘War of the Gods’ revolves around a young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind.

Freida Pinto will play Phaedra, an oracle priestess who must join Theseus. Phaedra joins Theseus to prevent the cataclysmic war from erupting.

The film will be produced by Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang Prods, Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment and Relativity topper Ryan Kavanaugh.

Rourke made a successful comeback in Hollywood last year with `The Wrestler` after a gap of ten years. He will be next seen with Robert Downey Jr in `Iron Man 2`.

Pinto shot to international fame after her role as Latika, the childhood sweetheart of Jamaal, the urchin boy, who goes on to win USD 10 million in a TV game show in Danny Boyle`s multi-Oscar-winning film.

She has completed shooting Woody Allen`s `You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger` opposite Josh Brolin and Naomi Watts, and Israeli film `Miral`, which has been directed by Julian Schnabel. Pinto plays the title part in the movie.

The news is out. Freida Pinto, who somebody said went from obscurity to worldwide superstardom in the blink of a well-curled eyelash with Slumdog Millionaire, has bagged the biggest and perhaps best role of her young career as an actress.

It is in Tarsem Singh’s $100 million Greek mythological epic War of The Gods which will release in the summer of 2011. An excited Hollywood press is supposed to have cranked up the buzz blaster and Tarsem himself described his film “as a larger-than-life adventure with the look and feel of an Italian renaissance painting — a setting well-suited to Freida’s timeless beauty”.

The actress, who plays Phaedra — the hero’s oracle in War of The Gods, was in Mumbai when the story broke. I met her for tea one evening at a city hotel poolside where she was shooting a campaign for a UK human rights organisation. She walked upto me with her hair blowing madly in the breeze, long legs flashing in snug designer jeans, golden-beige thongs peeping carelessly over the waistband through a tomato-red top. I thought she looked what she was, a sweet and young Catholic girl from Malad in whom Danny Boyle saw some spark and cast in Slumdog, changing Freida’s life forever.

She’s been in Mumbai since Christmas, spending time with her family, catching up with cousins, dodging the media which wanted details of her love life with Slumdog co-star Dev Patel. “My career made me known to the media, so keep it at that, I don’t want to divulge personal details of my life. And if I truly and honestly believe I have nothing to say, why bore people with my chatter,” Freida asked. So that was that about Dev Patel. I asked her what she had been doing all of last year, after Slumdog swept the Golden Globe and Oscars, taking her from Malad and screen tests and auditions in Bollywood to red carpets alongside Hollywood’s most glamorous. “Two films,” she replied, “for which I spent four months in Israel and four months in London, that took care of 2009.”

The films are Miral, a Franco-Israeli film based in war-torn Jerusalem during Israel’s 1948 partition from Palestine. And You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, a Woody Allen film, in which Freida acts opposite Josh Brolin, and with Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas and Naomi Watts. “What about the James Bond role,” I asked. “I have no idea where that came from,” Freida shrugged, “even my LA agents were curious. But this is a Bond thing, it happens with a lot of actresses, or with those in the news. It was very flattering, I must say, and I don’t know if I would have done it. I’m too young to be a Bond girl. There’s not much of a role, though some of them have become iconic, and you need somebody more mature and beautiful than me.” This coming from someone described by the international fashion police as being among the most beautiful, best dressed, desirable and stylish women of the world. “Oh that’s nothing,” she said dismissively, “there will always be someone else next year. I want to be an actress who will be remembered.”

Isn’t it strange, that despite her success in Hollywood, there are no roles yet for Freida to play in Bollywood? She clicked her tongue in irritation, “I haven’t said no to Bollywood, I am looking at scripts, when I hit the nail on the head — I will announce it. I have to do a Hindi film. Bollywood is changing, it is globally appealing, and the stars here all treat me well.”

They pat Freida on the back when their paths cross and tell her, “Keep it up, babe.” But there’s only one star in Bollywood who she looks upto. “Shah Rukh Khan,” she said, “His is by far the most inspirational story of all, he’s graceful, charming, and so wonderful, the best representation that India can have internationally.” She co-presented an award with SRK at the Golden Globes last year. “And I don’t know yet if I was more excited or nervous to be standing next to Shah Rukh Khan,” she giggled like an infatuated teen.

What would she have been doing if Slumdog hadn’t happened, I asked. “I’d be struggling, I still am — actually, the struggle never ends. Before Slumdog, I’d wake up and wait for a call from my agency. Then go for auditions, trying to make it, get a break in Bollywood.” And now she’s, what, the highest paid actress in India? “Oh dear, who said that,” Freida wanted to know, “and where’s the money? Nothing came to me!” But yes, what Slumdog had done was it made her more confident. And it opened Hollywood up to her. “It gave me the opportunity to choose what I want to do. Unless you get success, you don’t get the privilege to say yes and no,” admitted Freida. “But at home, they treat me the same as before, my mother is always telling me not to leave my things lying around, and I roam about the house in pajamas. But I cannot go down and play 7 Tiles anymore with the other building kids…”

The word is out, and the Hollywood press has cranked-up the buzz blaster: Freida Pinto has landed her biggest and best role to date. She will play Phaedra, the hero’s oracle, in War of the Gods, a Greek mythological epic currently in pre-production.

One of many in a sudden flurry of mythological mega-movies that includes The Lightning Thief andClash of the Titans, Relativity Media’s $100 million War of the Gods currently is scheduled to hit theatres in time for the 2011 summer blockbuster season. Determined to make the film live up to its “epic” description in every way, director Tarsem Singh has assembled an elite crew of screenwriters and cinematographers, including seasoned veterans from the instant classic 300. Singh recently told the Hollywood press that, apropos of his subject matter, he plans to give his larger-than-life adventure the look and feel of an Italian renaissance painting, a setting well-suited to Pinto’s timeless beauty.

Henry Cavill will headline as Theseus, champion of the human crusade against vengeful gods and demi-gods, who threaten to destroy all of mankind. Pinto co-stars as Phaedra, oracle priestess and hero’s inspiration—a perfect role for the twenty-five year old star millions of men worship as a goddess.

The role marks another evolutionary step in a spectacular career that has rocketed the Indian beauty from obscurity to worldwide super-stardom in the blink of a well-curled eyelash. After several years as an extremely successful international model, Pinto made her big screen debut in Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire. Beguiling critics and audiences alike, Pinto became one of Hollywood’s premier “It” girls for 2009, appearing in People Magazine’s list of the world’s most beautiful people, and landing high top several prestigious lists of the world’s best dressed women.

Since she lit-up the red carpet in the spring of 2009, Pinto has earned leading roles with some of the industry’s premier directors. Pinto recently completed production of You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, a Woody Allen piece that features a typically quirky ensemble cast including Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Naomi Watts, Anupam Kher, and Josh Brolin. She also completed excellent work on Julian Schnabel’s Miral, a poignant historical film about Hind Husseini, founder of the Dar Al-Tifl orphanage in war-torn Jerusalem during Isreal’s 1948 partition from Palestine.

Although Pinto wisely has devoted the majority of her time and attention to honing her considerable acting talent, she has not altogether abandoned modelling. In February, 2010, she graced the cover of Elle magazine, and industry insiders report that she soon will ink a deal making her “the new face of L’Oreal.”

True to the message of their hit, multiple Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto seem bound by destiny.
Had Dev’s mom not spilled the beans about the couple last year, the two might have still continued denying that they are an item. Well, now that their truth is out in the open, Dev’s recent visit to Freida’s home city Mumbai and his meeting with her parents is viewed with keen interest.
The duo was in maximum city during Christmas which Freida celebrated with her parents, and the occasion was perfect to introduce Dev to her parents. Whether the Pintos approved of the Patel lad isn’t known, but Dev and Freida were spotted partying with a bunch of close buddies at a hotspot in Bandra last week.
The celebrity couple passed a brief word to the nightspot’s manager that they didn’t want to be clicked and needed their privacy. They partied at the club from half past eleven to the time it closed.
